A dreamy event for the summer solstice
I'm making collaborative tattoos with a friend this weekend!
I met my friend Vannessa at a tattoo shop years ago, where I was working as a shop assistant and she was tattooing. We share a dreamy, idealized, nostalgic view of the world, and we’ve used that lens to support each other through so many ups and downs in our lives, both professionally and personally.1
Today, she runs her own private studio and I work there sometimes! So it was a long time coming that we did a little collaboration, with designs meant to be mixed and matched. Opaline Cove is our collection of sweet and delicate tattoo designs to welcome in the summer solstice and embrace your inner pastel fairy mermaid.
We drew inspiration from the idea of an iridescent fantasy world, existing just beyond the shoreline. Its portal is unlocked with beachside trinkets and sweetly-fragranced potions that have washed up on the shore, drifting to you upon crystalline waters. Follow their spirit and they’ll lead you to this world of fairies and mermaids, just on the other side of the shimmering waves.

This Friday June 20 + Saturday June 21, it’s the summer solstice and we are tattooing together at Meadow Sky Studio! If you book a design from each of us, they are both 20% off.

As of this post, we have some time on both days left. Email the shop to make an appointment and celebrate the solstice with us this year!
What’s blooming at the garden
I’ve gone through an awful lot over the last year, and this month, my nervous system feels like it has short circuited. Taking walks in the garden is one thing I do to stay grounded and present in my body. Seeing the roses bloom every spring is a reminder that everything has its cycles and something will always exist after your next step forward.
And the roses really showed up this year, even through heavy rain! They scented the entire neighborhood. Here are some of my favorites.

The industry is full of unchecked generational trauma and we really went through it together, ha ha.
